Periodically I like to submit my photos to online contests.  This might be the BIGGEST contest yet for me.  I am really hoping for some constructive criticism by entering this contest for Professional Photographer Magazine.  In the few years I have been pursuing this “business”  I have grown a lot.  I have found my style, my art, my creativity.  And I am excited for where I will go down this road!

So, here is my entry!  Click on the photo below to be linked to the actual entry and cast your votes!

Everyone loves a sleepy baby!  Sweet Briley is a sleepy baby, used to hearing her big sister’s voice while growing in her mommy’s belly.  And that is when I met Kim, when Briley was growing.  I met Kim at my friend Teila’s baby shower, and then I got to see her again at our cooking club event a couple months ago.   After Briley was born, Kim asked me to take her newborn pictures and I was so excited to spend time with Miss Sleepy Briley… but oh, she wasn’t so sleepy!

Yet her photographs show how sugary sweet Miss Briley is, even when she is awake!

Kim & Jason, thank you for allowing me to spend a good amount of time with you and beautiful Briley.  I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I wish I had a penny for how many people anxiously awaited this little girl’s arrival into the world!  Miss Ava Lynn is absolutely gorgeous and those lips of hers are sweeter than sugar.  She has her mom and dad so proud of her already.

Cheri & Brandon, it was such an honor to get to know you and the road you both walked to find yourselves now holding on so tight to your baby girl.  I can’t wait to see how Ava grows up, with all the love you both have to give her!  Enjoy her and as my daughter said today, “take care of your baby!”

You are about to see some of the cutest kids and their gorgeous parents, all from the W Family.  Both Kelly & I waited patiently for this session to finally happen… the weather, home remodeling, and some other minor details all finally fell into place on this sunny afternoon.  Trying to get some pictures in a flowery field was on Kelly’s wish list, and we did save the best for last!

This session is very dear to my heart, but the the explanation is rather lengthy.  Here is some background….

When my husband and I moved out to Yucaipa, I was blessed with a job opportunity as a pediatrician with a large and reputable medical group in Redlands.  The absolute best part was that I was going to be partnering with one of the best pediatricians around… Dr. Smith.  He and his wife, Myrna, soon became very good friends with my husband and I.   And just before we started having kids, his daughter started having hers.  And let me tell you, her kids are super adorable… wait until you see their smiles!   I still remember the days she would come to visit in the office with her young son, Thomas, and then with sweet Emily.   Their visits were always extra special since they live in Idaho.

Their most recent visit was the most exciting (for me) because their mom wanted me to photograph her kids (even though she is an awesome photographer too).  So we planned a fun, relaxing session on an orange grove in Redlands.   I can still hear all the giggles, the excitement about the Toys’R’Us shopping spree Thomas was looking forward to, and the screams (mostly from me) as Emily fearlessly picked up a lizard out of a canoe!   What a fun session, and an honor to spend time with Thomas and Emily!
